Tizzy had never had photos done with his dogs — a pit mix named Midnight and a Shiba Inu named Cami who’s getting up there in years. So we met up at Lee University in Cleveland, TN and just had a good time. Here’s how it went.
A Pit Mix, a Shiba Inu, and a Shoot That Felt Like Hanging With an Old Friend
Let me tell you about one of those shoots that just clicks from the second you meet.
Tizzy reached out because he’d never had a photoshoot done with his dogs, and his girl Cami — a sweet Shiba Inu — is getting up there in years. He wanted to capture them while they’re still in their prime, and honestly that’s the best reason to book a shoot. You don’t want to wait until you wish you’d done it sooner.
Meet Midnight the Pit Mix & Cami the Shiba Inu
Midnight is a pit mix and Cami is a Shiba Inu, and Tizzy is a dog trainer — so yeah, these two were good. Like, sit-stay-while-I-set-up-the-shot good. But what I really noticed was the bond. You can train a dog to listen, but you can’t fake the way they lean into their person. That part was earned over years.
How We Started the Shoot
We started off at this little covered walkway, and Tizzy just plopped down on the step like he was hanging out on his own front porch. Both dogs immediately came over — Cami right up against his chest grinning, Midnight sitting next to him just chilling and watching everything go by.
The Stone Steps
After that we walked over to these stone steps with these big wooden doors, and both dogs just hopped up like they owned the place. Midnight laid right down on his belly, super chill, and Cami sat up next to him doing that Shiba smile thing. This is what’s great about working with trained dogs — they’re just comfortable, so you actually get their personalities instead of fighting them the whole time.
Nicole made my experience so enjoyable. She handled my dogs with care and passion. She caught the special moments with us just right. I could not recommend Nicole enough! It was an amazing experience and the photos turned out better than I even imagined.

Cami & Midnight and the Flowers
Then we wandered over to this gravel path with all these lantana bushes — the pink and yellow ones — and Cami & Midnight were in their element. Ears up, tail curled, just happy. You can see the gray on her face too but she still looks great. The light hitting her coat with those flowers behind her — sometimes the spot just does the work for you.
And then this one — both of them together on the path. Midnight standing tall behind Cami with the flowers all around them. This might be my favorite from the whole day. It’s just them, side by side, how they are.
Where We Shot — Lee University in Cleveland, TN
So we shot at Lee University in Cleveland, TN, and if you haven’t been there, it’s honestly perfect for dog photos. You’ve got grass, nature stuff, and cool buildings all right there — so you get a ton of different looks without having to load dogs in and out of the car. For two dogs that’s a big deal. It’s one of my go-to spots around here.
