Painterly Masterpiece: Stunning Equine Fine Art Portrait
Creating a Stunning Equine Fine Art Portrait:
Kathy’s Dream Shoot Come to Life
Equine Fine Art Portrait in Tennessee
When Kathy reached out to me with an idea for an equine fine art portrait of her horses, she had one thing in mind—a beautiful, painterly photo with all of her horses in the frame. I absolutely love when clients have a clear vision like that, but as we all know, horses are full of surprises!
Kind Words
….. perfectly captured every moment! Would recommend 100 times over againNicole is such an amazing and talented photographer! She recently took my senior photos for me with my horse and dog, and they were everything I could have hoped for and more. The shoot itself was so laid back and fun so it was overall just a great time. I was so over the moon when she sent our gallery back, she perfectly captured every moment! Would recommend 100 times over again

The Struggle: Horses and Their Distracting Ways
Let’s be real for a second—getting horses to behave, especially in a group, is like herding cats… except, you know, much bigger, faster animals. Horses are super curious, and there’s always something that grabs their attention, whether it’s a butterfly, a sound, or just a good old-fashioned “I’m gonna walk over here now” moment. Not to mention, not every horse is best friends with the others, which can make it even trickier to get them all in one shot.
In Kathy’s case, I knew we’d have to get a little creative. The plan? Take each horse’s photo separately and then work my editing magic to bring them all together.
The Solution: Separate Shots, One Beautiful Equine Fine Art Portrait
Instead of stressing about getting them all to cooperate at once (because, let’s face it, horses just don’t work like that), we posed each horse on its own, getting the best shot of each one. That way, they were comfortable, relaxed, and looking their best.
Once I had all the individual shots, it was time to get to work in Photoshop.
The Magic of Photoshop: Making It All Come Together
Here’s where the real fun happens! I took each of those separate images and carefully pieced them together in Photoshop. With a little editing, I made sure each horse looked like they belonged in the same photo, surrounded by that gorgeous painterly backdrop. It was like putting together a puzzle, but with way cooler results!
The Final Result: A Timeless Equine Fine Art Portrait
When everything came together, the final photo was absolutely breathtaking. Kathy’s horses looked like they were right there in the same moment, each one beautifully captured with a soft, artistic background that made them pop. The best part? Kathy was over the moon with the final result, and it’s now a timeless piece of art for her to cherish forever.
